Below is the information for the upcoming in-person orientation and general information that will be needed for us as we continue to move closer to the beginning of the school year.
6th Grade Information:
📝 Student Intake Form: All incoming 6th grade families are asked to complete this brief intake form (click here). This will help us get to know your child better.
📅 Grade 6 Orientation Day – RSVP Required: Our in-person orientation is a great opportunity for new students to meet staff, tour the building, and build community before the first day of school. Please use this form to RSVP.

Note: If your student is unable to attend, we will have a makeup orientation day September 3 – 10:00 am-12:00 pm
🎭 After-School & In School Services Sign-Up: Our after-school programs are run by our amazing community partners, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Counseling in Schools (CIS) and Counseling, Community, Mediation (CMM). Sign-up information will be shared during the summer.
📚 Summer Reading & Math Assignment: All students are expected to complete the summer reading and math assignments to support a strong start in the fall.
Printed copies will be available upon request. Please encourage your student to pace themselves throughout the summer.

🎒 Field Trip & T-Shirt Fee: Each student participates in at least four field trips each year, one per marking period. These trips are integral to our experiential, project-based learning model. A field trip fee of $100 will be collected at the start of the year to help cover transportation, admission, and a Boerum Hill School t-shirt for school-wide trips and spirit events. Details and payment instructions will be sent in August.

🧩 Special Education and IEP Review: As we solidify enrollment and registration, we will gain access to your student’s IEP if they are within the NYC Public Schools system. Please allow our special education team, administrative team, and programming team time to review IEPs over the summer to ensure your student is scheduled correctly and receives their recommended services. In September, your student’s IEP case manager will reach out to introduce themselves and discuss the IEP in more detail.
